Meiji Seika and Bayer Yakuhin Closed a Co-Marketing Agreement

Meiji Seika (HO: Tokyo, President: Ichiro Kitasato) has closed an agreement with Bayer Yakuhin (HO: Osaka, President: Dr. Anthony Wynn) on co-marketing of the OTC product “Bayer Aspirin,” as of October 1, 2001. “Bayer Aspirin” is re-launched on October 2 with new package design and a reasonable price of 650 yen, changing the pack size from 30 to 20 tablets.

Since Bayer AG succeeded in synthesizing of Aspirin in 1897, “Bayer Aspirin” has been used as an antipyretic and analgesic for over 100 years around the world. It is now sold over 80 countries. “Bayer Aspirin” ranked No. 4 (1999) in the global OTC market and recorded No.1 sales both in Europe and Latin America.

“Bayer Aspirin” contains acetylsalicylic acid (aspirin) 500mg as active ingredient in a tablet, and does not include caffeine or the substance to cause drowsiness. The product is composed of very fine uniform crystals. It dissolves easily and is absorbed quickly giving rapid relief from pain and fever.

Meiji Seika take this opportunity to strengthen its OTC business adding “Bayer Aspirin,” a world famous brand, into the product lineup. Bayer Yakuhin promotes marketing activities in cooperation with Meiji Seika to raise “Bayer Aspirin” as a standard drug for pain and fever in Japan.
